Freelance Communications Producer

The Opportunity

Axis is searching for a freelance communications specialist with experience in cultural, creative and / or media industry communications (this can include experience in; fashion, film, theatre, museum, heritage, or contemporary art) to join our small team at an arts charity committed to making a measurable positive impact for artists, communities and audiences.

We’re looking for a creative thinker with visual storytelling experience to help more people understand what makes Axis and its membership of artists stand out. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how to plan, execute and measure marketing campaigns. You will help us celebrate, share and debate contemporary visual art by creating engaging content, using the latest technologies and tools to drive and create more engagement across our digital channels. With the support of the Social and Editorial teams, you will tap into cultural insights and develop social-first content in line with our brand and charitable objectives.


Key facts

Fee: £7,000

Hours: Average of 15 hours per week (Flexible)

Location: Remote working

Contract Period: Six month contract

 

Focus:

  1. Help us maximise the impact and efficiency of communications to support our charitable mission.

  2. Generate higher reach and engagement with the Axis membership and ultimately with audiences in the UK by creating accessible, engaging, inclusive and public-friendly content that raises the profile of the work we do at Axis, and helps to improve understanding of our charitable work and promotes our artist members.

You are:

  • A  creative, digital native with a strong portfolio of social-first content 

  • A confident communicator in social media marketing to a consumer audience

  • Experienced in creating and editing for social platforms, websites, email and other digital channels

  • A multi-tasker with the ability to stay organized

  • Strong at design, layout, and copy writing, with top-notch visual, written and verbal communication skills

  • Collaborative and supportive, helping to generate new ideas and translate those into effective communications

  • Driven by improving the engagement and experience of our beneficiaries

  • Aware of current trends in digital marketing

  • Self motivated with a positive and professional hands on approach

Experience and Expectations

We would expect you to have; a minimum of 2+ years professional experience and a portfolio of representative projects which will be shared at interview. 

A demonstrated ability in marketing channel or campaign management with foundations in content marketing, solid email marketing experience, curiosity and interest in following digital trends in marketing and channel strategy, eager to share what you learn with the team.

Key Tasks:

This is not necessarily a comprehensive list of tasks, but is intended to give a good feel for the content of the role.

  • Produce, edit, and deliver engaging content in support of our projects, programming and membership

  • Identify and execute new ways of using emerging social channels to get our brand messaging in front of our target audiences

  • Deeply understand our social communities and prospective audiences and design compelling content opportunities for each of them

  • Work to implement equality, diversity and inclusion initiative across all outputs 

  • Work closely with the creative team to develop, evolve and maintain a clear visual storytelling style and tone for social 

  • Support in the day-to-day execution of social content across channels

  • Collaborate across our websites

  • Collaborate on channel strategies that pull in market insights and best practices to ensure we are using the best channels for our efforts.

  • Monitor and evaluate impact of work flow

Key Relationships:

Will have contact with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the organisation and will be required to be friendly, professional, helpful and sensitive.
